Members of Remodeling Designs Staff Achieve Industry Certification

(Centerville, OH – January 29, 2009)  Erich Eggers and Tom Boehnke of Centerville-based Remodeling Designs, Inc., have achieved their Certified Remodeler (CR) designation, thereby joining an exclusive group of remodeling professionals across the country.  The two men successfully completed the requirements to become CRs as specified by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI).  The CR program offers remodelers the opportunity to become certified professionals to meet the public’s growing demand for peace of mind and high quality when hiring remodeling contractors.  Those who have earned their CR designation have extensive industry knowledge and are pledged to an exceptional code of conduct.

The Miami Valley Chapter of NARI hosted the CR classes and administered the test required for certification.  The CR course was open to remodeling specialists who have a minimum of five continuous years of experience in the industry and who submit a comprehensive application that details their background and qualifications.  The program educates and tests enrolled candidates on 20 critical subjects relating to business management and trade activities.  Those areas include Building Codes and Law; Plans and Specifications; Business Practices and Ethics; Jobsite Safety; Site Planning; and the requisite trade skills, such as Carpentry, Masonry, Plumbing, Electrical and HVAC Mechanicals.  To remain CRs, Eggers and Boehnke must satisfy annual recertification requirements involving continuing education.

Eggers, president and founder of Remodeling Designs, has a degree in Engineering from the University of Dayton.  He also has achieved the Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler (CKBR) credential from NARI, one of only eight members of the Miami Valley chapter that can claim both designations.  Additionally, he is a Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR), a certification program sanctioned by the National Home Builders Association.

Boehnke, who has been on Remodeling Design’s staff since 1999, has a Masters Degree in Applied Behavioral Sciences from Wright State University.  He too, holds another NARI designation, that of Certified Lead Carpenter (CLC).  Only three members of Miami Valley NARI can claim to be both a CR and CLC.
